Arrábida Natural Park , a well-kept gem only 30 minutes from Lisbon!

Located about 40km from Lisbon, Arrábida Natural Park itself is a wonder!

Arrábida Natural Park extends around 10.800 ha  in the surroundings of Setúbal, Palmela and Sesimbra cities & villages. Its rugged cliffs overlooking the beautiful landscape offering stunning panoramic viewpoints.
A short drive east of Setubal down tiny winding roads will bring you to some paradisiac beaches embraced by the Natural Park. The best kept secret ones are the sheltered bay of Galapinhos and Coelhos. But the most stunning of all is Portinho da Arrábida with fine sand, azure waters and a small 17th-century fort built to protect the monks from Barbary pirates. Crystal clear waters, reaching 17 degrees in high summer, make this excellent spots to relax during vacations. And if you want to have a meal at the beach Portinho da Arrábida or Creiro are perfect for you. There you can find restaurants that offer a great variety of fresh fish that will make your delights.
Within the Arrábida National Park is placed the beautiful convent built in the 16th century that was long used by the monks and later was abandoned and ruined. In the 19th century it was sold to private owners, that 60 years ago decided to recover it. The visits are allowed from Wednesday to Sunday, in groups and by previous reservation.
The park also hosts a couple of hiking trails including the windmill route (Rota dos Moinhos) with about 13km starting from Palmela village. If you love nature and hiking, Arrábida Natural Park should not be missed upon your visit to Lisbon!
We suggest a great place that will make your stay even more pleasant. Check out the Brown’s Downtown Hotels&Appartments. This is a contemporary hotel, located in Lisbon downtown near to interest points such as […]

Best running routes in Lisbon

Photo: Davide-Gabino
Running has been gaining more and more supporters over the past years, and in cosmopolitan Lisbon, there are so many options…you can both run along busy streets of the city, as well as along natural and fresh air locations. Lisbon council has shown concern in finding suitable spaces and focused on the well-being of people.
Whether for a race between friends, or to relax, we will show you how you can run at the same time as getting to know the enchanted pearls of this city.
The Monsanto forest park is called the “green lung” of Lisbon. With a very large area, it has many trails and paths and it offers many facilities like a parking, washroom and the possibility of running at any time. If you want something more central, you can run in this park, right next to one of the most known and emblematic squares, the Marquis of Pombal, located at the Eduardo VII Park. It is certainly a place that deserves to be discovered, the willingness to have a difficult slope at the route, which makes it more challenging. You can end in the Avenida da Liberdade, which is the most exquisite avenue in Lisbon. How ironic can be? 😉
A beautiful area to run is the waterfront of Belém. It offers a unique view for two very important monuments in the history of Portugal, as the Monument of Discoveries and the Belém Tower. Here the tour is flat, but very attractive and fresh and has several resting points.
Finally, you can finish at the area of the former Expo 98, a very trendy area, built recently and with a highly visited architecture. It has many leisure facilities, but the running path by the […]
