“A charming rustic refuge just a few steps from Évora”

In plain inner Alentejo, and just 3 kilometres away from Évora we can find a small and charming small hotel called “Casa do Governador”. Located inside a 20 ha property and just 500 meters away from the “Convento de Espinheiro”, the “Casa do Governador” was initially an enfermary and quarentene place for old Convent preasts.

Over a century old and with a strong historical legacy, the “Casa do Governador” was, in 2012, the target of a profound remodelling process that originated the 7 welcoming bedrooms. The north wing, of a more traditional decoration and the south wing, brand new with a more contemporary and rustic decoration.

The small decorative details spread through every corner of this house, making this delightful location, not only a contemplation spot, but also a place of strong inspirational and emotional connection. On winter days take advantage of the dinning room, with a fireplace or of the different corners of the farm. On summer days, with brighter days, the “Casa do Governador” invites you to long walks through its thousand year old olive tree fields or to a dive on the refreshing swimming pool. When hunger strikes, feast on the exquisite flavours that come out of the rustic and dark-toned industrial kitchen (previous booking is required).

Just 10 minutes away, you can find the lovely city of Évora, which is now part of the UNESCO world heritage, that within its walls, small streets and monuments, can take you on a journey through over 2000 years of history.
The “Casa do Governador” is a family project and has been in the family for over 100 years.

The “Casa do Governador” is a family project and has been in the family for over 100 years. Filipa Pujol, daughter of Manuel Marçal, a well-known physician in this part of Alentejo, decided to rebuild this property, keeping its unique and original design while, at the same time, gifting it with the most thoughtful and caring details as a type of homnage to her own ancestors, born in a time of great men and great women.
