Lisbon city is commonly known as the city of the 7 hills. With its “cliffy” architecture, Lisbon has outstanding viewpoints allowing a panoramic view over the city and of many typical and historic neighbourhoods. We have selected a range of viewpoints for you to indulge the best views over Lisbon.
Largo das Portas do Sol: this beautiful viewpoint is located in the typical Alfama neighbourhood, overlooking the Moorish and medieval maze of narrow streets and alleys, descending to the river in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Lisbon.
Arco da Rua Augusta “Augusta Street Arch”: this recently opened arch at the very end of the downtown street of Rua Augusta has been opened this year and has been receiving the best compliments from visitors. Its view is over the amazing square of Terreiro do Paço, one of the widest squares in Europe and spreads over the Tagus River. On your walks and strolls in the downtown areas, this viewpoint is a must visit.
Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara: located in the hilly Bairro Alto area, this viewpoint has one of the most romantic views of the downtown area of Lisbon with the Saint Jorge Castle just on the opposite side. There is also a small garden in this viewpoint where you can appreciate the views from.
São Jorge Castle : the view from this historical icon of Lisbon city is one of the most amazing ones as it shows views from most of the city including the river, the rooftops of the city as well as the “25 Abril” bridge.
Our best advice is for you to walk around, appreciate this unique viewpoints and get lost in Lisbon city!
