The Fátima Shrine, is the motive of thousands of Pilgrimages to Fátima every year.
The Fátima Shrine, located in the town of the same name, is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. This sanctuary was built as a response to the wishes of Our Lady in her apparitions to the three shepherds of the region (Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta). She asked them to build a chapel on the site, at the centre of the Shrine.
Over time the shrine has undergone changes and extensions, including the new Basilica of the Holy Trinity, with modern architecture. It is the fourth largest Catholic church in the world, with seating for 8,633 people.
Given the increasing number of pilgrims, the Fátima Shrine and other institutions have dedicated time to developing a set of documents, with routes, trails and useful information so that pilgrims can enjoy the best trails with maximum safety.
