Hot-Port-Wine

Hot Port Wine does not require any introductions or presentations. It is simply one of the most famous Sweet Wines of the world and it also belong to one of the oldest wine regions in the world, the Douro region.

Every occasion is special with a sip of Port Wine, but there are many ways of serving this delight of the gods … On the winter time one of the best serving method is definitely the mulled one…  With this variation you combine the very best of the two worlds: the great wine and the warm temperature. For a cold winter day, what else?

Just follow our recipe typical from the Minho region, and indulge the very best of the Mulled Port Wine:

Ingredients:

  • 0,5l Port Wine
  • ½ chalice of firewater
  • 1 soup stone of honey
  • 1 coffe mug of raisins
  • 1 cinamon stick
  • 1/2 slice lemon

Preparation:

Heat the wine on a medium heat saucepan. When it is already warm add the firewater, the honey, the raisins and the cinnamon stick. Stir well. At this point, it’s sometimes worth micro-waving the port (40 sec on full power) to ensure it’s warm enough and so that the flavours infuse for a while. Let the temperature decrease, stick the four cloves into the lemon slice and add to the glass.

And now your Hot Port Wine is ready to serve!!

The preparation time is about 10 minutes and it’s really easy to make!
