Do you like walking tours? If yes, you should defenetly try Walking in Monsaraz . You will love it!
Monsaraz is a charming medieval village in the heart of the Alentejo and 15 kilometres from Reguengos de Monsaraz. Don’t confuse them as they are two different places, both about 1 hour away from Évora.
The village is protected by walls rising from a stone cliff, facing the River Guadiana and with a panoramic view. Close to the border with Spain, it was a lookout post over the river.
Narrow schist streets and whitewashed cottages are the perfect invitation for a walk through time. Heritage and monuments abound: the castle, the parish church, megalithic monuments and more.
For lovers of good food, Monsaraz has the most distinguished restaurants with typical Alentejo food. We suggest Xerez, Sabores de Monsaraz and the Templários Tavern restaurants.
This is also a land of good wine and Esporão is an excellent landmark in the region, for wine tasting, for a tour of the cellars or for a more elaborate meal.
In Monsaraz, there is the charming Monte Saraz.
