Walk Tour in Algarve

Algarve inhabitants boast of having the best weather in the whole country. Mild winters, not too much rain, long and warm Summers, perfect sunsets and a golden light to die for. Accordingly, the region offers ideal conditions for hiking. So, if you want to take a walk in Algarve, join us on this Off The Beaten Track Algarve Walk Tour and be prepared to avoid all crowds and to find an exceedingly beautiful coastline, paths amidst Mediterranean woods, perfectly shaped umbrella pines, rough mountains where the soil is dark red and rocks abound, sleepy villages with old villagers dressed in black and the possibility to capture the sight of many birds and little animals.

Your days will be varied (and gastronomic!) and will include walks along scenic hills parallel to the seaside and enchanted Algarve orangeries, where maybe the world’s best oranges grow! Their juice is incredibly sweet, bright orange and thick. The other days will be spent amongst carob and pomegranate trees, olive groves, a bird sanctuary and typical villages. In the meanwhile, be prepared for true gastronomic experiences of fish, seafish and delicious desserts.

Your first two days will include the exotic Vila Monte resort, where your meals will be based on the best Algarve tradition and ingredients such as honey, fresh fish, organic herbs, citrus fruits, figs and almonds. Two days later you will come across Cabanas, near Tavira, home to “Cantinho do Pescador”, with its superior shrimp curry or mussels with cheese, as well as the “Sons da Ria” for great seafood. In the typical village of Cacela Velha, try the “Casa Velha” restaurant and its mouth watering clams bean stew. In this area you will be staying at a peaceful oasis named Herdade da Corte, 5 km from Tavira.

In your spare time, you may like to cycle to this city of strong Arab influences (patent in the chimneys, patios and the whiteness of the walls), or simply play chess by the country house pool. In your last days, you will be visiting the quiet Vila Real de Santo António village, in the border with Spain, and home to restaurants such as “Sem Espinhas” or “Dom Petisco” which will delight your senses with fresh Atlantic fish. The Praia Verde Boutique Hotel is where you will be staying. You will love its informality, excellent service and homely, delicious, country food, following the best Algarve traditions.
