A sustainable and eco-conscious small retreat overlooking the Alentejo landscape
Paraíso Escondido is located high on a hill overlooking the Alentejo landscape with separate buildings located around a 8-ha property. There are 5 bedrooms in the main house and a further 5 bedrooms outside the main house, including 2 wooden bungalows.
The main house has a lounge and dining area, with high white wooden ceilings and large windows bringing the outside in. The lounge also has a large wood burning fireplace, a bar and relaxing sitting areas. The property has a swimming pool, a organic vegetable garden, a small Spa and a Yoga Studio on the highest point of the property.
Outside there are numerous quiet areas to take in the beautiful views, relax, read and sunbathe.
Born in Mozambique, Berny Serrão first thought of the southern Alentejo as her “stolen Africa”. The vast open landscapes with rolling hills and clear, unpolluted starry skies, the long hot summer months and a wonderful light, all year round, makes the magical backdrop for the wild and almost virgin coastline, with amazing unspoiled beaches.
Berny and Glenn have transformed their country house into a small retreat. Since 2008, the couple has been working on the project. “We felt it was important to share our love for nature and for this very special place, in Alentejo, which we call Paraíso Escondido”.
Experiences you can’t miss: Horse riding, the ocean at your door step with beach coves tucked into the cliff-side, flaming sunsets, splendidly starry nights, restaurants serving up local specialties. Canoeing or kayak down the river Mira is also an experience not to be missed. On your doorstep, you have the world famous Rota Vicentina consisting of 750km of walking paths along the South West Coast of Portugal. This is also the perfect location for an Art & Painting workshop or a Yoga Retreat.
Check-in from 15:00 to 20:00. Check-out until 12:00.
Reservation and Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations or requests to change reservations without charge to the client must be made 1 month before check-in. Less than 1 month, or in case of no show, the entire stay will be charged to the credit card.
During summer months, the stays are paid at 100% upon booking, non-refundable.
