Once Upon a Time...

A place born directly from the Sea. Surfers' Lodge was designed with all the facilities aimed at wave boaters, favouring what is natural and taking benefits from the unique way the sunlight reaches Peniche, with unique reflections, as if the ocean was inviting you to surf its waves! The sunset is incredible from the rooftop, to the sound of good music and accompanied by honestly genuine meals prepared with the best local products, with a lot of creativity.

With the intention to go beyond the ordinary, the owners of The Surfers' Lodge are very down to earth and boast comfort above everything else. You’ll find recycled furniture and the ecological footprint is a social concern of the stakeholders of this space.

Come witness a unique landscape, embrace the sea and surf it, having fun to the fullest.

John Malmqvist, former swedish surf national champion chose Baleal, Peniche, to enjoy his "retirement" from the sport. It was not difficult, taking into account his project, convincing two Swedish investors to financially assist John in his dream: To create a place beyond the classic, where he felt at home, allowing the involvement of a community around the sport and surfer lifestyle. To a surfer, just a dug bed in the sand to spend the night at the beach is enough, waking up with the sun, to enjoy the morning waves ...

But John saw this as an opportunity: to promote the practitioners a space that facilitates them with all the needs and desires that John himself knows so well, with a little luxury twist!

  • Nazaré’s giant waves are a must to observe or surf, such as the city, culturally very rich
  • The medieval town of Obidos
  • The Berlengas archipelago, almost uninhabited, is a real virgin and natural treasure. The journey of 10 km boat may be accompanied by curious and friendly dolphins!
