Spend the morning exploring the vibrant city of Porto before a transfer to the historic village of Castelo Rodrigo. Upon arrival, meet for a detailed tour briefing and bike fitting to prepare for the journey ahead. Immerse yourself in the charm of Castelo Rodrigo, a beautifully preserved medieval village filled with historic landmarks and fascinating stories in a nice warm-up ride (27 km).

Begin your day with a ride to another of Portugal’s Historical Villages. Just a short distance from Castelo Rodrigo, follow the main road to Almeida, a village perched on a high plain overlooking the Côa River. Known as one of Portugal’s key strongholds during the Modern Age, Almeida offers a fascinating glimpse into the country’s military history. Return to Castelo Rodrigo (53 km).

Departing Castelo Rodrigo, cycle along scenic backroads through picturesque landscapes of cultivated fields. From Marofa, enjoy sweeping views of the Douro river system, including the Côa and Águeda rivers, stretching across the Águeda valley to the east. Today’s ride takes you to the enchanting village of Marialva, a treasure trove of Portuguese history and culture. After cycling 10 km, you’ll be greeted by the impressive sight of Marialva Castle, perched on a hilltop and surrounded by ancient stone walls (35 Km).
